Nature Studies
What are Nature Studies?
Nature Studies give children the opportunity to explore and connect with the natural world. Through observation, discussion, and hands-on experiences, children learn about the environments around them and how living things interact.
Why do we study it?
Spending time in nature helps children develop curiosity, respect, and a sense of responsibility for the world around them. It also supports focus, confidence, and a deeper appreciation for their environment.
What do we do?
We regularly go on nature walks through a variety of local habitats. Children observe, collect, and discuss what they see, bringing their experiences back into the classroom for further exploration and learning.
Exploring Local Habitats
Children experience different natural environments such as wooded areas, trails, and open spaces. These walks allow them to see how environments change and how plants and animals live within them.
Observation & Discovery
Children are encouraged to slow down, look closely, and notice details in the world around them. Through observation, they begin to ask questions, make connections, and develop a deeper understanding of nature.
Respect for Nature
Children learn the importance of caring for the environment by practicing respect during our walks. This includes being gentle with living things, staying on paths, and understanding their role in protecting the natural world.
